The CALNOC Advantage™

The imperative for quality patient care has never been stronger.

Nursing has and continues to be positioned to lead these transformational changes. As a fully contributing member of the interdisciplinary team, nursing has a unique role in the design, delivery and success of the structures, processes and outcomes of care. As roles change and demands increase, it is important for nursing to be able to gather, document and validate this unique role that nursing has on the quality of care. 20 years ago, recognizing the need for Data Analytics focused on Outcomes and Improvement, CALNOC was a pioneer in Acute Care, developing the nations’ first Nurse Sensitive Registry. Today our Ambulatory Registry continues that work as we embrace this new vision of community and population health, care coordination and family centered care.

This is CALNOC.  This is the CALNOC Advantage.

Leadership and Innovation

CALNOC (Collaborative Alliance for Nursing Outcomes) has been in the forefront of providing actionable information and research on nursing sensitive indicators to its member hospitals for over 20 years.

CALNOC created the nation’s first database registry of nursing sensitive indicators, transforming staffing, processes of care, and patient outcome data into powerful information to help guide decisions advancing improvement in patient care quality, costs, safety, and outcomes.

CALNOC’s registry and reporting combines staffing variables overlaid with nurse sensitive patient variables at the unit level to allow hospitals and ambulatory facilities to benchmark against themselves and other like-sized institutions.

CALNOC contributed to the development of the National Quality Forum (NQF) nurse sensitive metrics and is the measure developer for the NQF Pressure Ulcer and Restraint Use prevalence measures for acute care. CALNOC is also the first to introduce a nursing sensitive medication administration process and outcome safety measure.

CALNOC is the only Nurse Sensitive Registry in the US owned, managed and developed by Nursing. And as a non-profit public benefit corporation, we are dedicated to providing all of our resources for Nursing. We are completely focused on your success.

Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation

Participation in CALNOC assists hospitals in demonstrating compliance with regulatory, reimbursement, and accreditation requirements. CALNOC is a recognized registry for Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and Joint Commission (TJC) and has been approved for Magnet Qualification for both Acute and Ambulatory Care.

Best Practices

Using the CALNOC Registry, staffing and other costs are lowered while quality and access to the highest quality care through increases. Best practices research looks at top performers and what’s different for them, the structure and processes that help them reach their goals for highly reliable care. Practice based evidence.
